Shigeru Miyamoto is a Nintendo executive and game creator. He is a Representative Director and Fellow at Nintendo Co., Ltd.

Career

Miyamoto graduated from Kanazawa College of Art and joined Nintendo in 1977.

In 1996, Miyamoto was credited as Producer and Game Director of Super Mario 64.

In June 2000, Miyamoto became a Nintendo Director and General Manager of the Entertainment Analysis & Development Division.

In May 2002, Miyamoto was appointed Senior Managing Director and Representative Director of Nintendo.

In September 2015, Miyamoto was appointed Nintendo Fellow.

Interesting Facts

  • During Donkey Kong testing, factory testers continued playing after work, which helped convince Miyamoto that the game might be a hit.
  • During early Pikmin development, the creatures were called Piki or Picky before the team settled on the name Pikmin.
