Josef Fares is a filmmaker and game creator associated with Hazelight Studios. He is Hazelight Studios' founder and creative director.

Career

Fares broke through as a film director with Jalla! Jalla! in 2000.

Zozo won the Nordic Council Film Prize in 2006, shared between Josef Fares as director and screenwriter and producer Anna Anthony.

Fares made his video-game directing debut with Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons in 2013.

Fares founded Hazelight Studios in 2014.

It Takes Two won Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2021.

Interesting Facts

  • Fares named Split Fiction's protagonists Mio and Zoe after his daughters.
  • At The Game Awards 2017, Fares went off-script and criticized the Oscars, an episode later discussed as a viral moment.
