Clint Hocking is a video game designer and creative director.

Career

In July 2001, Hocking entered the game industry at Ubisoft Montreal as a Level Designer on the original Splinter Cell.

During development of Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, Hocking became its Creative Director after serving as Lead Level Designer and Scriptwriter.

After leaving Ubisoft in May 2010, Hocking worked at LucasArts, Valve, and Amazon Game Studios before returning to Ubisoft in 2015.

In 2015, Hocking returned to Ubisoft Toronto to head production on Watch Dogs: Legion.

In July 2021, Ubisoft named Hocking a shared Creative Director for early-development Assassin's Creed Infinity, overseeing the Ubisoft Montreal team.

  • Hocking and writer JT Petty received the first Game Developers Choice Award for Excellence in Scriptwriting for Splinter Cell.
  • In October 2007, Hocking publicly articulated the concept of ludonarrative dissonance in an essay about BioShock.
