Garry Schyman

Garry Schyman is a composer for film, television, and video games.

Career

Schyman graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in music composition.

Schyman entered video-game scoring in the mid-1990s through Philips Interactive and composed Voyeur in 1994.

In 2004, an agent faxed Schyman's résumé and he was hired to score Destroy All Humans!.

He won BAFTA's Best Original Music award for BioShock Infinite.

For Torn, Schyman composed the score with a full orchestra and worked closely with Aspyr during development.

Interesting Facts

  • Schyman said that Voyeur was recorded with an orchestra and that he believed it was among the first video games to receive an orchestral score.
  • For BioShock, Schyman wrote Cohen's Masterpiece as an old-fashioned nineteenth-century piano piece for the in-game character Cohen, and it was used throughout the level.
