The announcement was made on Monday 7 October 2024 to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the original game’s release. “On the 10th anniversary, it seems only fitting to let you know that we have heard your distress calls loud and clear,” said Al Hope, creative director at developer Creative Assembly.
