The inhabitants of the planet Koppai are facing a devastating famine, their world stripped bare by a booming population and dwindling resources. Desperate for a solution, they send survey ships across the galaxy in search of new sources of food, and one returns with promising news of a distant, fertile world teeming with cultivable life. Three Koppaite explorers, the engineer Alph, the botanist Brittany, and the captain Charlie, are dispatched to this planet to gather the food that could save their people. But when their ship malfunctions and crash-lands, the trio are scattered across an unfamiliar wilderness. Stranded and separated, each must rely on the strange plant-like creatures known as Pikmin to survive, reunite with their crewmates, and recover the means to complete their vital mission.
